Metroball DC 17u AAU Team Wins Big Shots Baltimore
On 4/21/12, we traveled to Baltimore, MD to compete in the “Big Shots Baltimore Tournament”. We had another very long day on Saturday our first game started at 9:00 a.m. and the final game began at 7:30 p.m. The 16 and under team finished with a record of 1-2. The 17 and under team went undefeated throughout the tournament and won the Championship on Sunday.
They finished with a record of 5-0. Hershell Grant (#4) had the dunk of the tournament that rocked the whole gym!! He led the 17U team to a double overtime Gold Championship over MD Finest. Big props to MD Finest who fought back from a 15 point deficit and shot a 3 pointer to force overtime. In the one minute overtime, Metroball scored immediately off the tap, but MD’s Finest came down and scored and was fouled. They missed the free throw for the win, This forced a double overtime which was sudden death (The first 2 points win). Rockell Lee-Vaughn (#2) was fouled and only needed two free throws to win the game. He made the first one and missed the second. MD Finest came down the court but missed a 3-point attempt. Christopher Thompson (#0) was fouled and made the free throw to seal the win!!
This was a huge win for our team of 10 High School Seniors who had several college coaches in attendance that inquired about them.
